Tyler Fenzel, Graduate Student Intern
I am currently a mental health counseling intern and I am completing my Master's degree in Counseling at Spring Arbor University. I earned my undergraduate degree in Secondary Education from the University of Michigan-Flint. As a former teacher, I have worked with students both inside and outside the classroom, helping them become their best selves. I also have experience working with student-athletes on and off the field.
My teaching background has provided me with a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by teens (ages 14 and up) and young adults. This makes me well-equipped to assist any clients seeking help in these areas. While I am knowledgeable about various therapeutic approaches, I have extensive experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy.
When working with clients, I often employ a humanistic approach tailored to their individual needs. My goal as a counselor is to create a safe, empathetic, and nonjudgmental environment where clients can openly explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Through collaboration, I aim to support each client in achieving personal growth, improving mental health, and fostering healthy relationships.
