Alex Lindsay, LMSW
I graduated from Kalamazoo College with a Bachelor of Arts in Literary & Cultural Studies and achieved my Master of Social Work from Wayne State University. I bring five years of experience to the practice of grief counseling, community organizing, and community mental health.
My approach to therapy is to challenge my client’s assumptions about themselves and others. I use techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing and mesh them with a trauma-informed, strengths-based perspective. I specialize in mood disorders.
The last two years in the field have taught me how much the simple act of caring helps. I treat all of my clients with dignity, respect, and trust in their abilities. I emphasize self-compassion, agency, boundaries, and self-forgiveness. I also firmly trust my clients as the experts in their situation and collaborate with them to make meaningful decisions about treatment together.
