David Turner, Graduate Student Intern
I have been studying to become a clinical mental health therapist for four years at Oakland University where I have gained knowledge in various subjects such as Family Systems, Addictions, Career Development, and Group Therapy. I receive weekly supervision from a fully licensed clinician at Giesken Counseling to ensure the quality of therapy services I provide to every individual.
I have experience working with a range of psychological and emotional concerns, including anxiety, depression, LGBTQIA+ challenges, life transitions, and low self-esteem. I'm familiar with evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and Motivational Interviewing. I approach my work with a trauma-informed approach to care.
I use a person-centered approach to therapy and work collaboratively with each individual, utilizing their unique values to achieve worthwhile goals. Whether they have a clear idea of their goals or need to process stressful life events, I'm eager to help anyone work on becoming the best version of themselves.
